Illinois General Assembly Approves Shorter, Simpler Health Care Power of Attorney.

A Health Care Power of Attorney is an important part of an estate plan, and it just got easier to get one.  The Illinois General Assembly recently passed Senate Bill 3228 which, if signed by the Governor, would provide a shorter, simpler Health Care Power of Attorney form that individuals can more easily understand and complete in order to express their end-of-life health care wishes and appoint an agent to make those decisions for them at the appropriate time.  The proposed form takes some of the legalese out of the current form and turns it into plain English.  To see the changes proposed by SB 3228, click here.
