There is something about Halloween that I have always loved, as a kid and now a parent. The cool, brisk fall air . . . kids dressed in costumes running around OUTSIDE from door to door (rather than staring at their iPhone or Wii video games) . . . the list goes on.
Kids should enjoy a safe Halloween. As kids go door to door, parents should be aware of whether a sexual predator is registered at a particular address or not.
The Illinois State Police provides an online listing of sex offenders required to register in the State of Illinois. The database is updated daily and allows searching by name, city, county, zip code, compliance status, or any combination thereof. You can access the searchable database by clicking here http://www.isp.state.il.us/sor/. For parents without internet access, they can call the Illinois Attorney General’s I-SORT Hotline: 1-888-41-ISORT (1-888-414-7678) for the information.
